League of Fighters is a free to play fan made game using the Fighter Maker 2K engine that takes the champions from the popular online title League of Legends into the 2D fighting world. League of Fighters is intended to be a fun way to spend your downtime when waiting for queues, in champ select after you lock in, waiting for your 5th to show up, or even when you queue dodge and have to wait out the timer. We're aiming for a short (1 to 1.5 minute) match time that you can fit in games of LoF between your busy LoL schedule.
The project is made by fans for fans, bringing together a large team of artists, musicians, sound engineers, and more into the collaboration that is team Instaburst. Instaburst is held together and run by the core 2 man duo of co-creators/directors David "Mashumaro" Wu and Alan "SamuraiPanda" Bunney who do everything from coordinate the team members to balancing and programming the game itself.
Yes! Our goal is to release the game for free and every couple months we'll be continually supporting the game by releasing new champions along with balance patches to keep the game fresh and interesting. And of course its all free!
Soon(TM) But seriously, we want to make sure the game looks good and works well before we release it. The game is currently in pre-alpha at the moment so it may be a little bit before we can get it out. We're hoping to finish about 4-5 champs for the initial game so it really depends on how many artists we recruit. The answer is simply that we don't know when we'll be able to release the game.
We really appreciate people offering to pay or donate to us, but we don't intend to ever make any money off of League of Fighters. This game is made by volunteers in our free time and is a completely non-profit endeavor (because of legal and other issues). The best thing you can do to support us is to make sure all your friends know the game exists!
No. We are not currently seeking alpha or beta testers, and we are not providing people with early copies of the game. Maybe someday we will be looking for testers but until we ask for them ourselves please do not offer to be a beta tester for us.
Annie. Our original three characters were Annie, Katarina, and Tryndamere. As we've started to program more and more champions into the game we've fallen in love with some other champions. So for now even we don't know who the other 4 champions will be on release! They could be anyone from League of Legends. Except Kogmaw.
We are considering every champion from League of Legends as a playable character, nobody escapes our eye. But we know that we can't include everyone so we designed an Assist system similar to Marvel vs Capcom 1, we named it "Call for Gank"! Your favorite champion even if they wouldn't fit a fighting game has a chance of appearing in League of Fighters as an assist. Does it mean they won't be a playable character if they're an assist? Nope it doesn't lower their chances at all! Unless they're Kogmaw.
Exactly the same buttons as you use for League of Legends! Q: Weak attack, W: Medium Attack, E: Heavy attack, D: Summoner Spell, F: Ultimate. We use R for all the specials, and they're easy to do! For example in Annie, Standing R: Fireball, Forward R: Flamethrower, Down R: Flameshield. Thats it! But each special and summoner spell has its own cooldown just like in the real game. And don't worry, the buttons are customizable. If you have a fightstick, controller, or want to play a friend on the same keyboard you can adjust them to whatever you like. If there is enough demand we may consider including advanced controls (shoryukens, hadokens, etc) as an alternative to the current controls.
Single player, training mode, multiplayer, and even online multiplayer! But sorry fighting game fans, we won't be using GGPO for the online play. We'd love to of course but the FM2K engine just doesn't support it as far as we know.
